Restaurant POS for Indian Restaurants

A restaurant POS for Indian kitchens: spice levels, thali and combo builds, heavy takeout and catering orders on one order engine.

Illustrative image slot. Hands plating a dish at a indian restaurant pass. No real restaurant or person is shown.

Indian menus ask more of a POS than most. One dish can have a spice level, a bread choice, a rice choice and a side, and half the orders leave in a bag. This page lists what that kitchen needs and what Zorveta One covers today.

These needs come from general kitchen knowledge. Bring your own and we will check them against your menu in the demo.

A busy hour

Picture a Friday at six. The phone has three orders waiting, a family of five is deciding between mild and medium, and a catering tray for Saturday needs a deposit note. The cashier enters a butter chicken with extra gravy, no onion and garlic naan, then adds a thali for a second guest. Each choice has to appear on the kitchen ticket in plain words, in an order the cook can read at a glance. When the cook sees spice level first, the plate goes out right the first time and nothing comes back.

What indian restaurants need from a POS

  • Spice level and modifiers

Mild, medium and hot is one choice. Add no onion, extra gravy and vegan, and a single curry can carry six modifiers. They have to print clearly for the cook and survive on every channel.

  • Thali and combo plates

A thali is several items for one price, each a choice. Build it as one item with a choice for each part, and a combo price covers the whole plate.

  • Takeout and phone-in volume

Many Indian restaurants sell more in bags than at tables. That makes pickup timing and a clear ready list matter more than the floor plan.

  • Catering trays

Large tray orders are placed days ahead. Schedule them for the pickup day so the kitchen sees them at the right prep time.

How Zorveta One covers it

How it covers this: spice levels, bread and rice choices stack as modifiers and print in order for the cook. A thali is built as one item with a choice for each part, and catering trays can be scheduled for pickup with a deposit. Guests can order by text, and the same menu serves the kiosk, the website and the phone.

Bring your spice-level options, your thali builds and one catering tray order. Ask to see each entered on the screen, then printed for the cook, and ask how the same item looks on the online store and the kiosk.
