A kiosk pays off when you have a regular line, a menu that guests can build on their own, space for a screen and staff who can use the time saved on the pickup shelf or the phone. It pays off less when most guests need to talk to someone. Test before you buy.
Start with the line
Watch your busiest hour for a week. Count how many guests wait, how long, and how many leave. If the line is short or never forms, a kiosk solves a problem you do not have. If it forms every day at noon, it may help.
Menu complexity
Kiosks suit menus where guests can make choices without help: build-your-own bowls, tacos, burgers, coffee with milk and size. They suit less well menus that need a conversation, such as a large specials list or a menu with many dietary questions. A kiosk can use a slimmed-down menu that hides items needing explanation.
Space and flow
A kiosk needs room for a person and a queue behind them. Place it so that guests do not block the door or the pickup shelf. Consider the lighting on the screen and whether a customer can see it from the entrance.
Staff
A kiosk moves the work, not the whole job. If the cashier becomes the person who helps guests, packs bags and answers the phone, the line moves. If nobody takes that role, guests stall at the screen and the saving disappears.
Guests
Some guests prefer a person. Keep one counter open, or let staff take over a kiosk order from the POS. Think about guests who need accessibility options and confirm what the hardware supports.
Upsell prompts
A kiosk can offer add-ons at the right step, such as a drink with a combo. Choose few and make skipping easy. See upsell prompts. Combos and promos in Zorveta One can run an offer like this for you.
A simple test
Run it for a month. Compare line length, order time, average check and staff time in the same hours as before. If you cannot try a kiosk first, try QR ordering at the counter, since it uses the guest's phone and costs less to test. See QR table ordering.
Where Zorveta One stands
The kiosk and customer display send orders land in the same kitchen flow as every other channel. See the kiosk page and self-order kiosk.
